Low Back Pain

Do you suffer from chronic low back pain?

Eligibility Criteria Include:

  • You are between 18 and 75 years of age. 
  • You have had a diagnosis of chronic low back pain for at least 6 months. 
  • You experience low back pain on a daily basis. 
  • You are taking a stable dose of prescribed pain medications for your low back pain. 
  • You do NOT have any other painful or significant medical conditions. 


Opioid-Induced Constipation

Are your pain medications causing constipation? 

Eligibility Criteria Include:

  • You experience less than 3 bowel movements per week.
  • Your constipation is caused by opioid use. 
  • You have been taking a stable dose of opioid pain medication for at least 1 month. 
  • You are willing to stop taking medications that may cause or relieve constipation during the study. 


Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN)

Do you still have shingles pain even after the rash has healed? 

Eligibility Criteria Include:

  • You are between 18 and 85 years of age.
  • Your shingles rash has been healed for at least 6 months.
  • You  have had pain from PHN on a daily basis for at least 3 months. 
  • You are willing to discontinue use of some medications that may be used to treat your pain.
  • PHN is your most painful condition and you do NOT have any other significant medical conditions.


Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and disturbed sleep. 

Eligibility Criteria Include:

  • You have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia using American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria, with the minimum of 11 of 18 defined tender points. 
  • You are willing to discontinue medications that may be used to treat Fibromyalgia. 
  • You do NOT have any other painful, significant, or unstable medical conditions. 


Osteoarthritis (OA)

Do you have osteoarthritis in your hip or knee? 

Eligibility Criteria Include: 

  • You are at least 40 years of age. 
  • You have had OA in your knee or hip for at least 1 year and the diagnosis has been confirmed by radiography, such as by x-ray. 
  • You experience pain from chronic OA on a daily basis and have been taking prescribed pain medication for that pain for at least 2 weeks. 
  • You do NOT have any condition which is more painful than your OA or any other significant medical conditions. 


Diabetic Neuropathy (DPN)

Do you have pain in your feet and legs from diabetes? 

Eligibility Criteria Include: 

  • You are between 18 and 80 years of age. 
  • You have had diabetes mellitus (type 1 or 2) for at least 1 year and it has been stable for at least 3 months. 
  • You have had clinical evidence of DPN for longer than 1 year but less than 5 years.  Pain may be described as burning, shooting, or stabbing. 
  • You are willing to discontinue use of some medications that may be used to treat DPN pain. 
  • DPN is your most painful condition and you do NOT have any other significant medical conditions.

  • breakthrough pain
  • active cancer pain
